Home {my place + people}

Home {my place + people}

This weekend was busy and full. Not unlike other weekends. However, I am sensing an unseen clock ticking in my head warning me that time is twirling by and I MUST make good use of these precious moments with my people. You see, I have a senior in high school. She is chin-high busy with scholarship applications, AP level courses, online college classes and all the other social and busy stuff that occupy an almost eighteen year-old. We have mere months with our oldest before she launches into her new, amazingly independent world as a college student in another state!!

Happy New Year!! {Welcome 2014!}

I hope you and your Sweeties had a wonderful New Year's celebration. Whether you were sitting at home relaxing with some special peeps and food or hitting the town with late night events, may your way of entering in the NEW be memorable. For my little crew, we headed to some friends for games, eats and a movie; relaxing and perfect for us oldies:)

I have this girl // she sews

I have this girl // she sews

I have three daughters. Each girlie has creative outlets, and I love seeing how God uses their uniqueness in encouraging or helping others. I shared my oldest daughter's artwork that followed a dream I had one evening. This week, my middle daughter, Bean saw something on Pinterest that piqued her interest, and she made it in an afternoon. My old Singer sewing machine is getting a second life from my little seamstress.

Our {Fall} Entry

Our {Fall} Entry

Β

While growing up in our little apartment, it was not uncommon to come home from a friend's house and find a room rearranged and feeling new. My mom would get bored with the arrangement of furniture or wall hangings, and a couch would move to a new wall, lamps were rotated through the rooms and end tables would be swapped out. We didn't have a lot to work with, so it was amazing that every time she rotated our inventory, it felt like we lived in a new place// all without costing a dime.

a season for everything {take a breath}

a season for everything {take a breath}

Being well into the school year, it would be easy to think that the schedules, appointments, meals, games, assignments, church activities, .... are in order. That the commitments made would not exceed the hours in a day. One could think these things and in my case, be wrong. Sad truth: I forgot one of my son's carpool pick ups because my schedule changed and I was free to run to the bank and got caught up in the wonder and the freedom of adollar store. What?!?! Luckily, I have loving and understanding neighbors who pitched-in and brought the boys home before my $5 excursion could get me there.

Stitching {some encouragement}

Stitching {some encouragement}

There are people hurting all around us. Sometimes we have eyes to see the pain or disappointments, and sometimes, our own difficulties or self-absorption keep us from a clear view of others' needs. This week, God opened my eyes to a couple of hurting or struggling friends.

Mug Swap {goodies revealed}

Last month {Mugswap 2013 Post} I entered my name for the third annual Mugswap organized by Kim over atACuppaKim. I love the premise of sharing, giving and surprise, and Kim was a wiz with a vision to draw people together across states and beyond. I was blessed by my little box of sunshine from Loan over at Skip to the Details// Yellow was the theme.

Some kitchen cuties {Ikea to the rescue}

Some kitchen cuties {Ikea to the rescue}

I have a tiny kitchen. It's longish and narrow. With seven peeps in the house this is NOT the place where we can congregate, but with the amount of time I spend in the kitchen, I like to make it bright, fun and manageable. The last time I was in Cincinnati, I stopped by Ikea and found a great bar that hangs under cabinets.

Caravan crush.

Caravan crush.

While perusing one of my favorite marketplaces {Etsy}, I came across the cutest shop that sold adorable phone cases and pouches: Modern and Vintage. My daughter loved the phone case with the silhouette of a VW bus, and I loved the case with a caravan and happy bunting. My husband surprised me {love when he does that!} and the cute phone case is now mine; don't fret she has more in her shop if you're interested:)
