Vintage Strip Quilt {& handmade binding}

Last week my sister shared some of her vintage strips of fabric with me; I knew they needed to be used immediately-- such sweet prints and colors. Some modern strips were added to the pile, and a dream of a lap quilt for my college-bound daughter began.

I took all of my 2 1/2 inch wide strips and began sewing the ends together in a random order--making sure to mix up the colors and prints. Once I had miles worth of strips sewn end-to-end, I cut the LONG strip into sections to make columns for the front.

I made some vintage quilt binding from another sheet and loved the way it turned out! This was used to pull the color scheme of her quilt together. The blue floral sheet was used as the backing to this lap quilt.

So, before my girl leaves for college {!!!} she will have a little piece of home + handmade to keep her warm when the homesick blues hit. Life is changing in my parts, and creating with fabric, yarn or whatever brings me peace + something beautiful and good to focus on.

Happy Day, Dears!
