Weekend Chalkboard Project {DIY}

This weekend was filled with sunshine and warmth!! Bikes were ridden; one son was able to train for a race outside {crazy, I know}; and an infusion of energy and productivity was palatable in our home. Finally, patches of grass were observed and appreciated// a reminder that this LONG winter season will eventually come to an end. And, my husband helped me whip up a long-sought after project--a Handmade Chalkboard

This was a pretty cheap project: about $20. {And fast too}.

We had the miter saw, wood glue and screws.

The hardware store cut the hardboard to our size specifications {mine is 3ft X 4 ft}. My Sweet Hubs used his brawn to cut the corners on the trim with the miter saw and glue the pieces together to form the frame. While the paint was drying on the hardboard, I wrapped vintage strips of fabric around the chalkboard frame. Wood screws were used to attach the frame to the hardboard; add a ribbon and, voila, done. Oh, I am so crushing on this combo.

I am so thankful for the helpful hands in my family. Because we all pitched in with the numerous projects, homework assignments and preparations for the coming week, we had time for some homemade smoothies, a short film and chats.  The day was sunny, warm{er} and productive-- a dream come true!
Now I just need to wait for some inspiration to fill that blank, black canvas.
Blessings...
