Burlap + State Silhouette pillow

I'm a lover of all silhouettes// animals, states, kids profiles.  In the past I have made state shaped mats, an entire map of all the state silhouettes, and fabric notebook covers {in my Etsy Shop}. And today, I was tired of looking at a pillow that was destined for the Goodwill pile, so I hauled it to the craft room and did a quick remake by covering it in burlap. And of course, an Indiana state silhouette.

Love the vintage fabric for Indiana!

Because I was working with burlap, I didn't bother adding a flap, envelope or zipper to remove the pillow.  I am not going to be washing the cover, so when I am ready for another change, I can simply cut off the burlap and try something new. Easy, peasy!

I love the shape of Indiana.

I used heat and bond to attach the state silhouette to the burlap. {More detailed instructions are in my Foxy Frame Tutorial}.  I added a heart to central Indiana for our home's location. Then I simply sewed around the perimeter, leaving a  6 inch gap to stuff pillow into case. Once I got the pillow tucked nicely in the case, I hand stitched the pillow closed. Done.  An easy {& affordable} pillow remake adds some change and newness to a living space. So happy with mine!
