Couples get-away & Summer bucket list {update}

Last week was just fabulous! Marvelous! Joyous! Our dear friends took all 5 of our kiddos for 4 nights so the Hubs and I could have a little alone time. {These friends need to be on the sainthood list}!  With the beach on our minds, we headed to beautiful Holland, Michigan.

The sand, sea grass and Lake Michigan. Beautiful!

It's been TEN years since my Hubs and I went away for more than a couple of days without the children. It was a much anticipated event. On our beach day we lolled about on the beach chairs, chatting, planning, laughing. We talked uninterrupted for hours!

Some fun roadside Junk thrifting.

Because it was just the two of us, we were able to ENJOY shopping. We found some amazing Vintage, Resale and Thrift Shops. {More to come on our fabulous finds in future blog posts}. We sat in the book section for over an hour just browsing without feeling rushed or worried that one of our offspring was causing a ruckus in another department. Bliss.

Guilty Truth: We ended each evening with a hot cup of tea and Blueberry pie.

My Hubs treated me to a hotel in downtown Holland which meant we were able to eat dinner in the quaint town, walk around the cute shops, grab our blueberry pie treat, all without having to drive. The slower pace, beautiful weather and time alone helped us to connect in a way that was needed- like necessary to regroup for our crazy, changing upcoming year. We hope to make this a yearly event.

Our children were thrilled with the arrangement. They crossed off more items from their Summer Bucket List with the help of our sainted friends. We took these sweet friends to dinner tonight to thank them for their hospitality and generosity, and they were already discussing their plans for next year. They want to do it again! Now that's love.

Feeling filled up; overflowing and refreshed!
