Traveling cross country with 5 children + tight quarters + long legs= a not so happy Mama in the drivers seat. There really is no way around long travel with a car-load of teen flesh. Frustrations arise, boredom hits and mouths run. What worked when they were Tinys - toys, food and small amounts of electronics- still works for the teens. I made some Travel Cups for the kids before our long trek to North Carolina.
Each of my children had a seat bag that contains a book, writing or game pad, water bottle, gaming device and the Travel Cups. My Hubs also gets audio books; we listen to chapters between bathroom breaks and kids choice time. Throughout the ride, I give a green light for one of the items in their bags. By switching up the activities, snacks and 'scene', the ride becomes bearable for all.
My 14 year-old son's face was priceless when he saw the Travel Cups. These simple family traditions still thrill my teens. So.... I still do it!
Happy Summer, Friends! Let's make it a fun one!!
