State Silhouette Mats {Tutorial}

Living in Indiana has been an enormous blessing to our family {job, homeschool, neighborhood, church, friends...} This California girl has become a happy Midwest Mama. I've mentioned my love of California before, and even decorated our bedroom with some State Love appliqué art, highlighting CA and IN.  Today, I'm sharing another way I add some State Love to my home// State Silhouette Mat //

This week I made Indiana, next week I'm adding California to the dining room-- it's kind of long:)

This is a simple, inexpensive way to add some color to that coffee table or as a quick Biddle to a loved one. I used a thrifted pillow sham for the fabric and printed the state shape off on a couple sheets of copy paper {enlarged to your preference}, cut and tape to make a large tracer.

I sewed a heart on our city <3.

Cut the fabric out around desired state shape and sew perimeter with rights sides facing, leaving a 3 inch opening. Snip corners or rounded edges and turn fabric out. Use a chopstick to get all those lovely ridges and curves of your state popped out. Iron.  Topstitch around perimeter of state, being sure to close 3 inch gap. Add heart to your city; FINISHED!

I have a current obsession with all things silhouette. My Etsy shop has some State Silhouette notebooks in stock; stop by and take a peek:)

Happy crafting, Friends!
