Annual dinner, dessert and flower shop

I am blessed to live in a neighborhood where we spend time with one another and find ways to help those living nearby. We host annual cookouts, pool parties, camping at the neighborhood park, rental of large equipment and much more. We've borrowed countless eggs and cups of flour; our children have matured along-side these families. But there is one event that I anticipate every year--  dinner and shopping for flowers {for pots and window boxes} with another west-coast-transplant. Diane and I met about 8 years ago when I dropped off some cookies after a scare her daughter had at our neighborhood pool. We share a love of San Diego, Weinerschnitzel, and blooming color in our gardens. She has a natural green thumb; and I take full advantage of her wisdom with the lure of gooey bread pudding and iced teas.

The BEST dessert in all of Indiana! Charleston's bread pudding.

Last night we shared dinner and dessert {and lovely chats, of course} and  then headed to a favorite nursery for some potting plants. The colors and selection were superb; we got everything we were looking for + more!

Can't wait to get these beauties planted!

There have been years where one of us is crazy busy and time is scarce, but we have committed to making this evening happen; not only do our gardens get revamped, but our hearts are encouraged and revived. We head into Mother's Day excited about cleaning the last bits of winter away; adding more color into our lives.

This Spring I feel His ever-present love and provision. I am blessed.
