{for fun} Summer Teen Zines

For four of my children, summer officially starts today!! My high schooler still has a few days of school next week, but it's mostly exams with shortened days. That means full days are ahead of us with open schedules and little plans. Just the way I like it; not always how my teens like it, though:) Every summer, we make summer memory books; ways to remember the events and people that make the summer fun. This year I made Summer Teen Zines for the kiddos to mark their favorite 2013 Summer moments.

My children love to draw, so I added blank pages for sketches or notes. I cut 12x12 scrapbooking paper in half and sewed the seam with 10 blank sheets of paper cut a tad smaller than the cover. Here are the supplies needed:

I found many of these supplies in the Clearance section of Target!

I added some lined sheets of SMASH pages to the front and back flaps {back flap is actually a pocket to hold summer treasures}.

My little artists will enjoy having the freedom to depict their special summer moments in their Teen Zines.

I'm sure some of our Summer Bucket List items will make their way into the Zines.  Having something creative to do helps keep the boredom blues at bay. Happy Summer!!
