Bring the Garden To Your Front Door

After these long, dark months of winter, this California-raised girl needs splashes of color around the house. It usually starts with a $4 bouquet of flowers from Trader Joes. Then I switch out the table linens and change up the pillow covers. This year I added a front door frame/ hanger to welcome the change of seasons. My tulips are blooming in the garden, and now there's a green moss monogrammed "B" on my plain white door; the shades of my garden are spreading up my front porch.....

I used one of my Goodwill frames that were made into an inspiration board, a paper-mache "B", scraps of burlap, sheets of moss, a mini fabric banner and a glue gun.

First, I traced the B onto the moss and cut it out; glued mossy "B" to front of shape. My letter had 1 1/2 inches of depth, so I made strips of moss in those widths and began to hot glue them to the inner and outer curves of the "B" {Beware: this was the messiest part; I recommend working on newspaper}. Make a bow out of the burlap and attach "B" to frame. Finally, affix vintage banner to frame and hang on door!

I'm jumping into the new season and colors even if this stubborn Indiana weather is not cooperating. I'm in need of some refreshment and change, how about you?!
