Spring project

Ahhh, sunshine, warm breezes, birds lullabies through open windows. It must be Spring! This week I came back to a project that I loved when my children were younger; making small lap blankets with vintage-inspired fabrics. One Christmas, I made 10 of these lovelies for the Littles in my life as gifts. I don't have Littles anymore, but a sweet friend had surgery on her foot and was going to be bed-ridden for a few weeks. I wanted to bring her a recovering Biddle, and a friendship lap blanket came to mind.

Love these children at play fabrics.

I added a bird with heat and bond then blanket-stitched around the edges. I used the same fabric to add a coiled rose and leaves. The Spring colors and mood fit perfectly with this week's change in temps and feeling // warm, fun, playful.

Coiled rose and leaves. I also added "LOVE" in free stitching below the rose in a coordinating green thread.

My daughter, Bean even made one herself. It started out as a gift for a friend, but once it was complete, she couldn't part with it. I get it. It was her first big sewing project and it turned out so incredibly cute.

This blanket is now available in my SHOP. Take a peek.

What are some ways you spread JOY to the loved ones in your life??
