I am sentimental. Not about stuff, so much as memories and experiences. We were warned by seasoned parents to savor those toddler years; the moments slip by and morph our babies into independent self-posessed young people with ideas and plans of their own. Yikes! I am there, friends! My times with diapers, high chairs and cribs are behind me, and for the most part I am happy to part ways with that season of my life. However there are some things I miss:
~ Nap TIme- Because taking a rest in the afternoon is just a good idea
~ Bath Time- Water, giggles and wrapping up the day together
~ Story Time- My little Lovelies all warm from their bath, eager for a new tale
~ Hand-Holding- Oh, those blessed chubby, grimy hands; LOVED that!
~ Veggie Tales- The soundtrack of early Mommyhoo
So, I will relish these memories a bit tonight. Tomorrow is a new day; my oldest daughter will drive herself to school, my oldest son is competing in basketball tournaments, my other children are taking standardized state tests this week. Their independence and imaginations run our house in circles, but I would have it no other way. The clock is spinning faster than I anticipated, so I will take time to reminisce about days in the rear-view mirror while appreciating the times at hand. It's just what Mama's do.
