So, we continue our time in Missouri for the National Homeschool Basketball Convention. Our team has been battered and bruised but their spirits and respect for one another remains. Today was especially difficult. One of our boys ended up in the emergency room for a possible concussion; we are still waiting on results of the CT scan. Lukas couldn't play after the first 2 minutes because of a hip injury after two pretty hard falls in yesterday's game.
But these teenage boys are being raised with a sense of fairness and compassion. When one makes a mistake, another player is there to encourage, motivate and spur-on that player to a better game next time. No accusations. No recriminations. It's refreshing to witness such a tight-knit group of young men that get that this week is about more than just a basketball title; integrity in the game is important as well as close knit relationships founded on a love of Jesus, first, and basketball, second.
