Sometimes our world seems just a little bit smaller than we imagined.
I received an email last night that thrilled me to pieces. My old college roommate/ friend saw my son and husband's photos and names in the basketball tournament program that she was attending for her son. She wanted to know if I was in attendance as well. And I am. Crazy coincidence!?
We attended college in California; she lives in Texas, I live in Indiana and our sons' games are held in Missouri. What a wonderful, delightful surprise to see her beautiful face the moment I walked into the tourney building. We hugged. We introduced our family members. We laughed and reminisced for a moment about some fun times. I sat with her family during her son's game. She sat with my family during my son's game. Both of our boys teams did well and advanced to the next level. Tomorrow they play one another!!! Crazy! Coincidence!?
I love how God orchestrates these moments in our lives. This woman had a huge influence on me; she wrote a song and performed it at my wedding, she stood by as I married my best friend. She has always demonstrated an inner joy and peace that I admired. While in college, she had a ferocious ability to block out distractions and focus on the priorities she made for herself. And she Loved Jesus! It was infectious. So, today was good- very good. Our sons played well. We sat with one another and caught up. I hugged a sweet, old friend. I am filled.
And no matter the outcome of our sons' game tomorrow, this trip was better for having spent a brief moment on the bleachers with an old friend.
