Summer Hiatus

I have taken a bit of a break from the blog to be present with my growing teens who have very full calendars. It's been a nice break, but I hope to pop in more frequently to share some of my vintage repurposing projects, thrifting trips and overall crafting journey.

Here is a little glimpse of my summer happenings:

 Those vintage dinner napkins were used quite a bit this summer.

This and so much more were squeezed into our condensed summer break. Some sewing was also accomplished, but I will save that for future posts:)

Thanks for popping by and following along.

Party Prep {she's 20!}

Party Prep {she's 20!}

Our oldest child just turned 20! So many feelings and memories all come flooding at the mention of seasons that have passed since this baby girl entered our home. She was our first. First daughter. First hospitalization. First one to experience our wobbly attempts at parenting. But she is dearly loved and so we remembered her special day surrounded by friends and family eating yummy delights and singing her a song of remembrance.

Rainbow Granny Square Banner {gift it}

I love God's promises. They are constant, true and faithful// never changing. This week I heard a friend was hurting-- feeling alone, and isolated in a new environment without any connections to lean into. I wanted to brighten her day and living space, so I crocheted her a Rainbow Granny Square Banner.

A Little Instagram Swap with New Friends

A Little Instagram Swap with New Friends

It is amazing that social media has allowed friendships that would otherwise not exist, to flourish or start through common interests, goals or hobbies. I have made a few friends through Instagram that share a common interest in their faith,  parenting, sewing, crocheting or vintage junking. A few of these Lovelies asked if I wanted to join an informal Swap-- we buy a mug and fill it with some handmade or store bought love in the form of small bits that would interest the receiver. This is my third year participating in this type of swap, and I truly love the generosity and friendships that stem from this simple act of giving.

School Prep Week

School Prep Week

So, last week our teens went back to college and high school. At this stage of parenting there is little I can do to prepare them beyond a trip to Target for supplies {Which I LOVE}. And there really is no way to prepare for your oldest to head to another state for her second year of college. Kleenex, diet coke, and a comfy blanket do help for a short bit.

There was a little time to create; some of these fun items are going with my Dearies to school.

Summer Adventures 2015

Summer Adventures 2015

This summer has been AMAZING! We started our grand California adventure 4 days after school ended and loved our two week stay on the sunny coast. We invested our time and resources intentionally in a once-in-a-lifetime family trip to our home state of California. After twelve years away, we loved every blessed moment surrounded by familiar faces, places and FOOD.

Stitching for a babe + donuts

Stitching for a babe + donuts

This week was filled with getting some ordinariness back into my life. Routines were in full force, all family members were home {praise Jesus!}, and it was time to get some crafty juices flowing. Early in the week, we welcomed a family friend's preemie baby into our lives. She's tiny. She's adorable + thriving. And I was itching to make some small, cute baby bits.

Scrap Tags {gift it}

After I finished my Crochet + fabric wallets last week, I wanted to make something quick to add to the little bundles of goodness. I knew these wallets were destined for some sweeties who have loved me hard during some family hardships, and so chocolate sweet bits and handmade gift tags were in order. One can satisfy a sweet tooth; another can help in a pinch for an addition to a gift or note.

Lately...

Lately...

There have been many changes in our home these past couple of months. Some changes have been welcomed, other changes have come unbidden and cause a heart to sigh and hunker down. With these changes have come some quiet times on this blog and in my little home. A very good thing. I have missed this space, so here is a little glimpse of my family's happenings:
